From award-winning creator Julian Fellowes comes the motion picture event of the year- DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA. The much-anticipated cinematic return of the global phenomenon reunites the beloved cast, as they embark on a grand journey to the South of France. When the Dowager Countess (brilliantly played by Maggie Smith) inherits a villa, the secrets of her past begin to catch up with her. Whilst thrilled with her inheritance, the Crawleys are left bewildered, full of questions and head off to unravel the mystery. The ever-brilliant Maggie Smith takes centre stage and her seasoned presence is pure joy to behold.

Meanwhile a dual storyline finds Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) in a dire financial position, surrounding the upkeep of Downton Abbey. Reluctantly she decides to accept an offer from a film director, who uses the estate as a backdrop to create a silent movie. A crew of filmmakers and actors invade causing much kerfuffle, but paying handsomely. The result is refreshing, comical and beautifully shot.
The arrival of cinema helps audiences realise how much change this generation witnessed in their lifetime. Totally out of her comfort zone, Lady Mary eventually begins to embrace this new era whist in France, Lord Grantham realizes it’s not wealth or position but family that is most important to him.

Bringing back the glory days and reminding us of ‘Downton Abbey’ at its best!
