‘Heart-warming…superb’

Bursting at the seams, with a talented ensemble cast: Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates and Laura Linney star in this touching story about friendship, past mistakes, love and forgiveness.

Ballygar, Ireland 1967 a tight-knitted Dublin community. Three generations of close friends, share a tantalising dream: to escape the gauntlet of domestic life, taste freedom and win a pilgrimage to Lourdes. With a little benevolent interference from their cheeky and rebellious priest, close friends Lily, Eileen, Dolly and Sheila win the ticket of a lifetime, at their riotous local raffle night. With each woman desperately in need of a personal miracle, the trip seems like an answer to their prayers.

But when they are joined by Chrissie, returning after a nearly 40-year exile in America deep wounds from the past are re-opened and bitter truths are exposed. As they confront one another and embrace their shared past, the group struggle with revelations that will change them forever. Their shared traumas can only be healed by the curative power of love and friendship.(1hr 30 mins)
