‘An Unforgettable Delight! Joyous & Uplifting!’

Barbie is a cinematic marvel that will leave you utterly captivated and spellbound. Every aspect, from the stellar acting performances to the awe-inspiring visuals and the unforgettable soundtrack, is flawlessly executed. Directed by Greta Gerwig, it cleverly combines a fantasy, comedy and adventure with a brave portrait of what it means to be a man and a woman today’s society. It addresses significant themes such as: feminism, patriarchy, empowerment and embracing one’s true identity.

Ken: I’m a man with no power, does that make me a woman?

Barbie, effortlessly played by Margot Robbie, lives the ‘perfect’ life in Barbieland, a pink imaginary world of wonder. The attention to detail in the set design, costumes, and visual effects is truly remarkable. However one day she suffers a crisis, when she shows signs of being human. Shocked, she begins to question her world and very existence. She decides to travel to the ‘real world’ to try to find a cure, which will make her ‘perfect’ again.

Leading a stellar cast, which includes Will Ferrell and Rhea Perlman, is Ryan Gosling who is exceptional as Ken! He steals the show with his charm, humour and dialogue. Also giving an impressive performance is America Ferrera as Gloria, one of the many strong, fearless female characters who break stereotypes and defy expectations. Messages of self-acceptance, empowerment and the power of dreaming big resonate throughout the film.

Ruth: We mothers stand still so our daughters can look back and see how far they’ve come

Watch out too for cameo roles from Dua Lipa (singer), Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls) and Rob Brydon (comedian)! With an unforgettable soundtrack and iconic dance routines, do yourself a favour and immerse yourself in this magical world – you won’t regret it!
